Danskundervisning i IT-virksomheden Shape bidrager til styrket fællesskab på arbejdspladsen
Shape er en IT-virksomhed, der i 10 år har udviklet og bygget digitale produkter for klienter over hele verden. Flere end 31 forskellige nationaliteter har de godt 110 medarbejdere hos Shape – og selvom arbejdssproget er engelsk, har Shape givet alle sine internationale medarbejdere i København muligheden for at gå til dansk på deres arbejdsplads i samarbejde med UCplus. Vi har talt med Søren Ulrikkeholm, Director of Operation hos Shape om samarbejdet.
“At Shape, we benefit greatly from having an international workforce who have chosen Denmark as their home. We want them to feel welcome and included, not only in our company but also in society as a whole. Learning the language opens doors of communication and provides an important tool to integrate and settle into life in a new country as best as possible. The Danish lessons are part of our efforts to provide the best possible conditions for our employees and their families to be happy in Denmark and at Shape.”
Hos UCplus er vi rigtig glade for, at Shape netop valgte UCplus til at holde danskundervisning for deres internationale team. Hos Shape er det særligt muligheden for at kunne påvirke, hvilke emner der bliver lagt vægt på i danskundervisning, som har stor betyding. Derudover, at det er muligt at holde undervisningen hos Shape.
“Only two schools provide government-funded Danish lessons, and after thorough research, it became clear that UCplus was the best option for us. While they provide quality Danish lessons, we have the chance to influence teaching by requesting to focus on specific learning skills.
Furthermore, UCplus has been very accommodating in regards to letting us have lessons in our office, which was extremely beneficial during the pandemic, where a well-known and more controlled environment was preferred. Lastly, they are always friendly and approachable, and they are flexible when it comes to schedule changes and such.”
At lære dansk har givet også teamet hos Shape noget at være fælles om. Bl.a. har medarbejdere på tværs af teams haft lejlighed til at møde hinanden til danskundervisning – og det har givet en mulighed for at skabe rum til både at udvikle og danne relationer.
“Learning Danish is difficult and working through the difficulties together as a team, sharing laughs, and celebrating progress create a unique bond between colleagues. We try to provide the best possible conditions to learn and connect, and we think our employees benefit greatly from that. It has also given colleagues across different parts of the company a chance to spend time one on one and practice together – creating a more personalized relationship. People are now making casual conversations around the office in Danish and a second group of students are set to start lessons with UCplus sometime in the near future.”
