Indfødsretsprøven

Indfødsretsprøven is a test in knowledge of the Danish community, Danish culture and history. Foreigners in Denmark must pass Indfødsretsprøven and meet a number of other conditions to obtain a Danish citizenship.

The test is multiple choice and contains 45 questions. You must have a minimum of 36 right answers to pass.

Prøver – generel information - EN (9)

The exams take place twice a year:
In May/June and November/December. Se dates and registration deadlines are listed below.

We hold the exams in Copenhagen, Ringkøbing, Silkeborg, Sønderborg and Tønder.

To attend the Danish exams PD1, PD2, PD3 and Studieprøven as well as Indfødsretsprøven and Medborgerskabsprøven you must pay a fee.

PD1, PD2, PD3 and Studieprøven are of course free of charge for students at UCplus.

For both the written and the oral examination, you must bring photo identification in the form of:

  • Passport, residence card, foreign passport, convention passport issued by the Danish authority
  • Passport or identity card issued by a public authority in an EU/EEA country or in Switzerland
  • Passport or other valid travel identification with photo issued by a public authority in a country other than the countries mentioned above
  • Driver’s license (not valid Photo ID)

If you cannot show valid photo ID before attending the examination, we will have to reject you and you will not be able to participate in the examination. Read more about the ID requirements here.

At UCplus you will be well-prepared for the exam. We have information meetings prior to all Danish exams and preparatory PD3 and Studieprøve classes in Copenhagen.

You can complain about the test, the course or the assessment in both written and oral tests. The complaint must be in writing and justified. The appeal deadline is four weeks after you have been informed of your grade. You can read more in the complaint guidelines here.

In the event of illness during either the written or oral examination, you may, upon presentation of a medical certificate, take the missing part of the exam at the next examination session. You should contact the school where you were registered for the exam as soon as possible if you wish to avail yourself of this opportunity.

If you are dyslexic or have a physical or mental disability, you can apply for a waiver to take the test with special conditions. After registering for the test, you must contact the school where you are taking the test no later than eight weeks before the written test is held. The school must have documentation of your disability. Find your local language center and related information here.
