As a student of the official Danish Language Education programme, you have a specified period of time to complete the different modules.
This is called a ‘klippekort’. The ‘klippekort’ is a voucher system determining how long you spend on each module and how long you can spend finishing the Danish Language Education programme.
The ‘klippekort’ allows to you to spend a maximum of 3½ years in the Danish language programme.

If you get started quickly on the Danish Language Education programme and follow the lessons, you will normally be able to finish the programme much quicker than that.
But you must be aware of the ‘klippekort’ rules – especially if you are taking a break from the Danish Language Education programme.

You will receive a ‘klippekort’ if you are:

A student
An employee
Married to an employee
An au pair
Reunited with family under EU rules

How the ‘klippekort’ works:

As a beginner, you have a ‘clip’ (unit) for each of the modules on your Danish Language Education programme. But if you already know some Danish and, for example, start on module 2, you will only get clips for modules 2-6.

You activate the first clip when you start taking Danish lessons.

You activate a new clip when you sign up for a new module.

If you do not pass the module test before the clip expires, the next clip is automatically activated.

Your ‘klippekort’ is active for five years after you have started on your Danish Language Education programme.

Here you can see how long the individual clips are valid:

Breaks from the Danish Language Education programme
If you want to take a break from your Danish Language Education programme, this must be done between the modules. When you sign up for a new module, you start using a new clip.

If you take a break in the middle of a module, you use your clip without getting any lessons. And you risk running out of clips towards the end of your Danish Language Education programme. This means that you will have to pay for the rest of the programme yourself. A Danish Language Education programme costs DKK 6,000 per module.

If you still want to take a break in the middle of a module, please contact us.

Extension of the ‘klippekort’
You can have your ‘klippekort’ and your Danish Language Education programme period extended if your are prevented from participating in the lessons due to serious long-term illness. You must document your illness with a medical certificate. The municipality must receive your documentation while you are ill or no later than when you are again able to participate in the lessons.

You must contact the municipality yourself if you wish to have your ‘klippekort’ and your Danish Language Education programme period extended.
