Danish at the Workplace
Free Danish language classes for international employees in your company
Would you like to offer your international employees the opportunity to learn Danish at the workplace?
UCplus provides Danish courses and language training for international employees in companies across Denmark through the Official Danish Education Program and FVU (Preparatory Adult Education). This means the classes can be free if employees are entitled to either Danish Education, which follows the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), or FVU. UCplus will help clarify this through an individual consultation with each employee.
UCplus handles all coordination and provides skilled teachers who deliver lessons tailored to your employees’ level. Courses can take place at your company, at one of UCplus’ language centers, or online. It is also possible to apply for compensation for lost working hours if classes are held during work time—UCplus will assist with this application.

About Danish Education
About Danish Education (6)
As a new resident in Denmark, you are encouraged to learn Danish. The three Danish Education programs are official courses divided into levels 1–3.
Danish Education 1 and 2: 6 modules, ending with a test (PD1 or PD2).
Danish Education 3: 5 modules, ending with PD3. A 6th module (Study Test) gives access to Danish-language higher education.
The first two modules focus on speaking skills for work and study. Later modules gradually improve speaking, reading, listening, and writing.
It is the official program for new residents, giving you the skills to manage work, education, and everyday life in Denmark. UCplus also helps you use public digital platforms and provides insights into Danish culture, history, and the labor market. You will meet other newcomers and build a network.
The Official Danish Education at UCplus is for adults (18+). You are entitled to free Danish Education for up to 42 months (3½ years) within a five-year period starting from your arrival in Denmark. You must have a residence permit and legal stay in Denmark.
No prior knowledge of Danish is required for Danish Education 1, 2, or 3.
If you are no longer entitled to free Danish Education, you can pay for a module yourself. Contact UCplus at +45 44 87 01 66 for prices.

Completed FVU courses can be used to:
- Apply for permanent residence in Denmark (FVU Reading steps 2 and 3)
- Apply for Danish citizenship (FVU Reading step 4)
- Combine FVU Reading step 4 with FVU Math step 2 to enter vocational education.
FVU courses are available at UCplus centers in Copenhagen, Skovlunde, Ringkøbing, Ringsted, Roskilde, Silkeborg, Sønderborg, and Tønder.
Classes combine online and classroom teaching, or you can study 100% online.

Once you have registered on our website, we will call you and invite you to an initial consultation. During the consultation, we will discuss your background and qualifications and help you find the right FVU Danish course for you. After that, you can start your FVU Danish course.
No, you generally cannot receive SU for FVU courses because the classes are free. However, this also means that participating in FVU will not affect your current SU. If you have questions about your specific situation, we are happy to provide guidance.
